Man’s scarf ‘bit too gay’ for police

A Christchurch man showing interest in police recruitment at a Careers Expo was told the scarf he was wearing was "a bit too gay" by Canterbury's top police recruitment officer.

The comment was made just as the force begins its recruitment drive for 1000 new officers, and less than three weeks before the release of the findings of a commission of inquiry into police conduct.
