This is supposedly the last picture ever taken of Elvis Presley alive:
Along with the photo and other interesting last photos on listverse, was this text:
This last known photo of Elvis was taken on August 16 1977 at 12.28am. The picture was snapped as he is pulling into Graceland after a night out. ...
Interesting Fact: Elvis had visited his dentist on August 15th to have a temporary crown put in and has been suggested that the codeine the dentist gave him that day resulted in an anaphylactic shock that assisted in his death because he had suffered allergic reactions to the drug previously.
The late Dr. Lester Hoffman was the dentist of Elvis Presley. He once told a story Elvis used self hypnosis instead of drugs to get numb.
"... we were doing a little dental surgery on Elvis. I was taking out an old broken root tip. And, of course I reached for the syringe to get him numb and he said, 'What's that?' And I said, 'I'm gonna get you numb'. And he said, 'Well, just give me a moment, a minute'. And, he went into sort of like a trance. And at the end of the minute he said, 'Ok, I'm ready'. And I reached for the syringe again. And he said, 'No, that won't be necessary'. He had gone into some deep meditation and I said, 'Come on, Elvis I said this..'. He said, 'You go ahead, if it bothers me I'll stop'. I went ahead and did the surgery, got the root tip out, sewed him up. He never blinked, he never moved. And when I finished I said, 'Elvis, I'm through'. He said, 'I never felt a thing'. He could put himself into this meditative trance, he was a student of meditation and he used it." - elvis.com.au
This story completely does not fit with Elvis taking a lot of pain killers.
PSA: Mothers: Don't nurse and take codeine, there is a 2% chance your baby will die of a morphine overdose. More history:
The official coroner's report lists "cardiac arrhythmia" as the cause of Presley's death, but this was later admitted to be a ruse entered into by the Presley family along with autopsy physicians Dr. Jerry T. Francisco, Dr. Eric Muirhead and Dr. Noel Florredo to cover up the real cause of death, a cocktail of ten prescribed drugs, taken in doses no doctor would prescribe:
The painkillers Morphine and Demerol. Chloropheniramine, an antihistamine. The tranquilizers Placidyl and Vailum. Finally, four drugs were found in "significant" quantities: Codeine, an opiate, Ethinamate, largely prescribed at the time as a "sleeping pill," Quaaludes, and a barbituate, or depressant, that has never been identified. ... -about.com
The AP said Dr. Francisco said the amount of drugs found in Presley's body, collectively, would not have constituted a drug overdose. And he said it was unlikely that the drugs' chemical reactions within the body could have contributed to his death. ... "Had these drugs not been there, he still would have died." Dr. Francisco was quoted as saying that the press conference. - yahoo
Throughout the program (and in follow-up stories) Rivera makes no bones about who is one of the central culprits in the cover-up, Shelby County Medical Examiner, Dr Jerry Francisco. Francisco took it upon himself to call a press conference following the autopsy, to announce Elvis died from cardiac arrhythmia, a statement deliberately misleading and only true on a superficial level. .. Francisco would later make the outrageous claim that "Dr Nick's" indictment for prescribing thousands of pills to Elvis had nothing at all to do with his death! Francisco's arrogance is stunning - it is an amazing scene to watch. ... What Francisco deliberately omitted to add was that the letter he took that view from also included another sentence saying "categorically", that in combination, all the drugs present in Elvis' body could well have been lethal! - elvisinfonet
Marty Lacker, a high school friend and best man at Presley's 1967 wedding, often saw Dr. Nick substitute sugar or vitamins as placebos, and emphasizes: "You've got to realize you were dealing with a very strong personality in Elvis Presley. I heard Dr. Nichopoulos telling Elvis to stop taking drugs. Elvis got upset with him and told him to 'get the hell out of here and don't come back.' The problem was Elvis would see other doctors." There are reports that he would fly his private jet to Las Vegas when his medicine chest was empty in Memphis. - people.com
In 1977 alone, George Nichopoulos wrote Elvis prescriptions for 10,000 doses of uppers, downers and assorted narcotics. He tells Adam Higginbotham he did it because he 'cared' - guardian

"Vernon would later pass away of heart failure on June 26, 1977."
Correction: I meant to say that Elvis' dad passed away on June 26, 1979 and not June 26, 1977.
