“I’m here all week. Tip your waitresses and try the veal.”
Perhaps they should install a drum kit in the White House press office.
President Obama’s press secretary made light of remarks made by former Vice President Cheney yesterday that President Obama’s policies have made the US less safe. (video below)
“I guess Rush Limbaugh was busy so they trotted out the next most popular member of the Republican cabal,” Gibbs said to scattered laughter.
“I would say that the president has made quite clear that keeping the American people safe and secure is the … most serious job that he has each and every day, he added.
Cheney incidentally was highly complimentary of the radio host yesterday saying that he would “pay” to see President Obama debate Limbaugh.
When questioned if the sarcastic tone of his reply toward Cheney was appropriate, an unrepentant Gibbs replied, “Sometimes I ask forgiveness rather than [for permission]. I hope my sarcasm didn’t mask the seriousness of the answer.”
