A 15-year old Vietnamese girl, Lai Thi Dao, is awaiting surgery in Miami, Florida. The surgery is to remove a 16-pound facial tumor. The surgery is needed to allow her to speak and eat once again.
Lai Thi Dao suffers from a Schwannoma tumor which has been growing on her face since she was 3-years old.
The tumor has grown to the point where she is no longer able to eat or speak.
It has even kept her from going to school.
Doctors have a 10-hour surgery scheduled for April 29 to remove the tumor. The surgery will be held at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
If they do not remove the tumor, it could suffocate and kill the girl.
These types of tumors are usually benign, but doctors stated that the size of this particular tumor is extremely rare.
The International Kids Fund is trying to gather up donations to help fund the girl’s surgery. A link to the page for the International Kids Fund is below.
Once the tumor is removed, Lai hopes to get back to school in Vietnam. Doctors do not believe the tumor will return once it is removed.
Wow. That is the most testicular chin. This shows that everything we are is the result of a code and that code can get messed up. As science progresses we should be able to grow human replacement organs. I could even imagine that we'd have the ability to do things like grow a refrigerator with a built in human nose for detecting odors or a house with living bones that heal if damaged. It is unfortunate that this girl was not able to have an operation sooner.
Update:
Surgeons at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center performed a 14 hour procedure to remove the growth in April and little Lai had additional reconstructive surgery on October 10. She still has a tracheostomy tube in her throat but that will be removed in the next round of surgery and she will be able to speak normally for the first time in years.
The surgery was made possible by the International Kids Fund.

Ooh,. i feel so sorry, for this girl! i'm 15 my self, and i can't imagine to have a handicap like this!

This is one of about 50 reasons I have for rejecting the idea of a 3-headed god who promises us salvation but finds some "reason" or another to throw just about EVERYBODY into a burning hell ! To go into all my reasons, would waste a good deal of space and annoy readers.
I can only hope that all went well with the removal of this blighted mass and that she will grow up in a DEMOCRATIC nation.

I'll leave the previous post up as an example to myself that humanity may not be worth saving, really.
