West Lafayette officials have bought a device they hope will mask the stench from the city's wastewater treatment plant during Saturday's Taste of Tippecanoe festival.
The festival takes place along the Wabash River, not far from the plant.Wastewater treatment utility director David Henderson said the $1,700 machine consists of a large fan that blows a vanilla-scented odor. He also plans to add odor-control chemicals to the treatment plant's lagoon. - theindy
