George Jolicoeur, a 600-pound Florida man with a long record of scamming restaurants and convenience stores, pleaded no contest April 1 to five charges that he sought refunds by making false claims, including one that a $50 order of beef jerky from a 7-Eleven was moldy. Prosecutors declined to seek jail time, deciding Jolicoeur was simply too fat to incarcerate. If he had been jailed, the state would have been responsible for his medical bills.

A 600-pound Florida man, arrested for scamming restaurants in 2007, was offered a plea deal when prosecutors discovered it was too expensive to incarcerate him, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
George Jolicoeur, 38, is infamous for ordering food and then complaining about the quality and refusing to pay after he eats it.
The obese thief once devoured five milk shakes before finding a hair in the shake and refusing to pay.
Jolicoeur was arrested in 2007 after downing nearly $50 of beef jerky from a 7-Eleven, then claiming the last few scraps were moldy.
Police tracked him down at home and arrested him.
"The beef jerky got me," Jolicoeur said on his way to prison.
After Jolicoeur was charged with five counts of felony petty theft, he became ill and bedridden. He now resides in a nursing facility and relies on a respirator to breathe.
After prosecutors discovered that the state would have to foot the bill for Jolicoeur's medical care they offered a plea deal.
"He's in his prison cell," said Assistant State Attorney Kyan Ware. "He's not getting out of that bed."

This one is from December 2005:
A Seminole County man apparently has a taste for fraud.
Investigators say the man has a big appetite and a lengthy criminal background. He allegedly tried to pass as policemen or firemen to scheme up super-sized refunds, WESH 2 News reported.Everything about George Jolicoeur, 33, involves big numbers. He's been booked 26 times since 1991, and during that time, his weight has ballooned to nearly 500 pounds.Sheriff's investigators said a list of huge food orders, including $63 in ice cream cones and $41 worth of subs, were part of a scam."Mass ordering and mass consumption of food and then coming back and saying, 'Oh, there was something wrong with it. I want my money back,'" said Steve Olson, of the Seminole County Sheriff's Office.Even worse, he told the managers of several restaurants, such as Taco Bell and Steak 'N Shake, that he was either a cop or a fireman to try to boost the belief in his complaint that the food had a hair in it or didn't taste right. ...
Neither Taco Bell or Steak 'N Shake gave him any money back but Firehouse Subs did because managers said he caused such a scene inside the restaurant."He's not flashing a badge. He doesn't have any identification that says (law enforcement officer) or firefighter," Olson said. "(But) he's trying to say, 'I'm a firefighter. I'm real disappointed in this food and the boys at the fire station didn't like it.'"Finally, restaurant managers started calling the real police. Now, Jolicoeur is in a place where he gets regular meals and he gets them for free -- he's been arrested and he's in jail.
