The other day my girlfriend and I went out to a local High School basketball game. In the middle of all the hoopla, I looked around and saw that the coach of the nearly all black team was Japanese-American, his assistant was Arabic, and the cheerleaders were made up of whites and Latinas and black girls just like the crowd. "God, I love this country," I said, and was so surprised to find myself saying this. For me, that love has little to do with politics and most to do with diversity. My racial makeup is pretty much the same as Obama's; white mom, mostly black dad. This election means a lot to me.
