Conn. man pleads guilty in gas pump shooting

http://www.thedenverchannel.com/2009/0317/18951943_240X180.jpgA Naugatuck man is facing prison time after pleading guilty to charges he shot up a gasoline pump, trying to make it explode.

Police say 49-year-old Michael Mason tried to commit suicide after a night of heavy cocaine use by shooting at a gas pump at a New Haven Road gas station in October 2008.

He pleaded guilty Monday to several charges including having weapons in a car.

Mason was hospitalized after the incident when he was injured in a crash following the shooting incident.

Mason will have the right to argue for no time in prison to 2 1/2 years when he appears for sentencing in Waterbury Superior Court on Aug. 14.
