A tailor in Henndorf, Austria, is becoming a leader in lederhosen after creating what is believed to be the world's largest pair of the traditional Bavarian-based leather shorts.
Walter Sinnhofer finished the super-sized shorts just in time for the upcoming Oktoberfest celebrations. They are 15 feet long and 4 yards wide -- almost big enough for Willie Wonka factory finalist Augustus Gloop.
According to Metro.co.uk, Sinnhofer spent two months cutting and stitching the large-bottomed lederhosen from 77 square yards of cowhide. They weigh a hefty 101 pounds.Sinnhofer hopes the big-assed breeches will earn him a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records, and it looks as if that will happen.
A Guinness spokeswoman said that Sinnhofer has submitted a claim for largest lederhosen and that it has been accepted as a new record category. However, the claim has not yet been verified.
But that's not the long and short of it.
Although it is being reported that Sinnhofer currently holds the Guinness record for smallest lederhosen -- just 38 millimeters long -- the Guinness rep said that there is currently no record in that category and that Sinnhofer hasn't been officially recognized for any records.

Just kidding about the giant from space. Nothing to see here but some giant pants. Still... if you build it....
