Witness testimony from more than 120 former or retired military personnel points to an ongoing and alarming intervention by unidentified aerial objects at nuclear weapons sites, as recently as 2003. In some cases, several nuclear missiles simultaneously and inexplicably malfunctioned while a disc-shaped object silently hovered nearby. Six former U.S. Air Force officers and one former enlisted man will break their silence about these events at the National Press Club and urge the government to publicly confirm their reality.
(WRH) Webmaster's Commentary:
Apparently Reuters takes an automated feed from PRNewsWire, which will accept and post any press release feed that anyone wishes to pay for. It's a press release distributor, not a news organization, and apparently nobody at Reuters pays attention to what comes through.
Sadly a lot of people have picked up this story with the Reuters credit and posted it all over the net.
A little early for April Fool's.

I'm not saying there aren't UFOs, but this "UFOs disabling bombs" thing seems like disinformation to sell books. If I'm wrong, where is the proof?

The original source of this story is Reuters.
And, Reuters certainly didn't say it "got rolled!"
Xeno, if you read what I wrote about Robert Hastings, way back on the Chinese airport closing, you'd know what this conference is about.
Robert Hastings is one of the presenters, but the only one mentioned in the press release who is not a military officer. In 2008, he published, “UFOs and Nukes: Extraordinary Encounters at Nuclear Weapons Sites,” a work that he began in the 1970s! It's a 600 page book with over 80 interviews with military officers about UFOs closing down nuc bases. I know it's hard to believe, but much to the dismay our ... oh! so powerful military .... Actually, you can read about these type of encounters from a lot of sources.
The other presenters are:
Dwynne Arneson, USAF Lt. Col. Ret., communications center officer-in-charge
Bruce Fenstermacher, former USAF nuclear missile launch officer
Charles Halt, USAF Col. Ret., former deputy base commander
Robert Jamison, former USAF nuclear missile targeting officer
Patrick McDonough, former USAF nuclear missile site geodetic surveyor
Jerome Nelson, former USAF nuclear missile launch officer
Robert Salas, former USAF nuclear missile launch officer
U are just being stupid, this is a well documented event, by Stanton T. Friedman and as well as a dusin more people.
Does not matter what u think, if u want ptoof go look for it.
Ann, I don't think it was an original Reuters story. They give credit to PRNewswire, who in turn site the source as Robert Hastings and Robert Salas. That doesn't mean, of course, that Reuters didn't scrutinise the article or wouldn't have run it even it had "slipped through the net".
You may be right, but I also recall a bigfoot hoax case where someone seemed to trade a reputation for headlines and web traffic that could have been used to make a lot of money in advertising.
The disclosure project, if you consider all possibilities, could be a honeypot to find and adjust the views of military people who see things they shouldn't.
Are aliens visiting Earth the truth, or the cover story for our most advanced technology?
In terms of proof, are there leaked documents, photos, radar records, secretly taped interviews to back any of this up?
I should read it before judging, thanks. I'll see if I can get "UFOs and Nukes" free at my local library.
Xeno, whether "aliens are visiting Earth," or not, we just don't know, but Hastings (and S.T. Friedman as R.M. commented), which everyone seems to ignore, have studied that apparently UFOs, whatever they are, have and continue to shutdown nuc bases. Why doesn't anyone read things like books, or at least book reviews or even studies? You know, reading doesn't cause any illnesses.
Was there just a power loss that would have prevented a launch? Sensors stopped working? Radioactive material in the warheads became suddenly inert?
Perhaps the bases shutdown because the personnel are all outside looking up at the flying saucer.
If the military are in contact with them, as seems to be the consensus, maybe they should ask them to stream a banner saying "Get back to your post soldier...Yes! You!"
Cheng, your humor ... is to be commended. Please write, with your wit ...
Xeno, to be honest, I haven't read Hastings (I haven't been at a location lately where I have access to an English-language library), but others haven't noted, as I recall, that the power went out. If I remember correctly on one (or more?) occasion the warheads were shutdown. Something happened to the electronics/computers ... If you look, you might find some accounts online.
For proof via leaked documents, photos, radar records, etc. try going to Steven M. Greer and his Disclosure Project. All this is presented in either video taped testimony or transcribed in books. Both versions are available free at your local public library. Look at the material and decide for yourself.
It appears that they have all kinds of credible evidence. As a scientist how can you ignore data?
I know Xeno that you are uninformed but give yourself a break and look at data and not telivision.
I am glad I can help you.
Yes, thanks, I plan to take a good open minded look at all sides and the claims... Just haven't had time yet.

Today, the National Press Club in Washington DC hosted former Air Force captains who disclosed their unusual encounters with UFOs over the past 30 or 40 years, after
being directly ordered not to speak of these events.
CNN was there and couple of anchors on CNN made fun of it later.
Where was anyone else from the media?
We are a silly species to mock the eye witness accounts of our finest warriors.
One of which admitted not to have seen the UFO that shut down the missile, but that his partner saw the whole thing and related it to him.
It's just fascinating to have reliable people opening up about these events.
Especially since the French government has already opened up and admitted that there are UFOs.
