Nimoy introduced the Vulcan nerve pinch in an early TOS episode ("The Enemy Within") where Spock was supposed to KO the evil Kirk in the Engineering room. He suggested the "pinch" as a non-violent alternative. Nimoy also devised the Vulcan Salute - a raised hand, palm forward with the fingers parted between the middle and ring finger ... Nimoy says he derived the accompanying spoken blessing, "Live long and prosper" from... the last phrase of [a Jewish] blessing is "May the Lord be forbearing unto you and give you peace"... A political liberal, Nimoy recently contributed the maximum $2300 to 2008 US presidential candidate Barack Obama.
Obama, Spock's choice. Love it.
Getting back to the remake... It MIGHT work... there are many James Bonds, so why not many James T Kirk's? I'll have to be really won over. The Trek World is so large and there are so many other things they could have done. I'll probably love it just because it is new Trek.
After what seems like eons of silence and secrecy, the doors to the mysterious universe of JJ Abrams' STAR TREK are about to open ... - joblo

Is that Harold from Harold and Cumar as Sulu in the background? WOW! Sylar is Spock, Harold is Sulu, and I recognize the McCoy from somewhere too.
