A 50-pound rock plunged through the roof of a Cookeville home Monday afternoon leaving a three foot gaping hole.
According to the Herald-Citizen newspaper in Cookeville, the force of the rock pushed the window and wall outward, and caused dust, insulation, a beam from the roof and electrical wires to fall into the house.
Officials believe the rock came from a nearby rock quarry, possibly during blasting.
The home's owners were not home at the time and no one was injured.
Their insurance company has reportedly estimated the damage to be in excess of $20,000.
